GM APPROVES NEW LOW VOC HPC21 CLEARCOAT FROM SHERWIN-WILLIAMS AUTOMOTIVE FINISHES

Warrensville Heights, OH - General Motors has approved, on a global basis, the HPC21 clearcoat with Air Dry Technology from Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Corp. (SWAFC). HPC21 has undergone the extensive certification process to meet the GMW15406 standard that General Motors sets to assure that vehicles repaired at their dealerships use automotive refinish products of the highest quality.

The 2.1 VOC HPC21, part of the SWAFC HP Process™ , features Air Dry Technology which is an extremely productive clearcoat designed for a range of speed applications from single to multi-panel repairs. HPC21 offers outstanding application properties, gloss, appearance and buffability.

"HPC21 offers a very fast cycle time and does not require the use of high temperature bake cycle, which allows for increased productivity and energy savings," according to Gordon Gibson, senior chemist with General Motors.
