Dale Earnhardt Jr. Signs Exclusive Deal with Planet Color™
Driver and Team Owner Selects Optically-Enhanced Custom Colors as Exclusive Automotive Finishes for JR Motorsports™
Las Vegas, NV - Bold, innovative colors at more than 100 mph. That's what Dale Earnhardt Jr. and JR Motorsports" will receive, thanks to a multi-year exclusive agreement with Planet Color" - a unique custom color paint line boasting optically-enhanced finishes and detailing unlike any other seen on the market. The announcement was made jointly by Earnhardt Jr. and Tom Hablitzel, Vice President, Marketing, Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes, during a press conference at SEMA, the nation's largest automotive aftermarket trade show.
As the official automotive sponsor of JR Motorsports, Planet Color will provide all paints, finishes and associated products for the U.S. Navy Team in the NASCAR Busch Series.
"Once I saw the vibrancy and detailing of the Planet Color finishes up close, I knew I wanted them for my team," said Dale Earnhardt, Jr. "Our sponsors and fans will be amazed at how the colors on the #88 team car will come to life both on and off the track."
According to Hablitzel, "These custom finishes incorporate the latest technology, giving these colors real personality. Special effects cause the paints to look multi-dimensional, iridescent and extremely brilliant. We're privileged to bring this innovation to JR Motorsports as their exclusive automotive finish partner."
Over the course of the sponsorship, Earnhardt, Jr. will act as general spokesman for the custom finish line, appearing in ads and allowing his likeness to be used in ongoing marketing efforts.
"I only endorse products I believe in," said Earnhardt, Jr. "The look of Planet Color caught my eye - especially after I saw a white finish created for my dad's '57 Chevrolet. The special effects in the paint really made it stand out, reinforcing my goal to have those finishes represent the spirit of the U.S. Navy on my team car during the 2007 season."
Recent enhancements to the Planet Color brand will take the special effects even further. New color palettes were recently introduced with innovative pigments for unseen levels of brilliance and reflectivity. In addition, custom detailing options in leathers, striping and decals will soon be available. The striping and decals can be embellished with the same optically-enhanced features of Planet Color for the ultimate in customization.
