Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Unveils Planet Color™ - A World "Where Art and Science Collide™"

Experience Color in a Way Never Seen Before With Optically Enhanced Coatings

Warrensville Heights, OH - Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Corp. (SWAFC) unveiled Planet Color, an innovative collection of optically enhanced coatings in Las Vegas at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show (SEMA), the world's largest automotive specialty and performance parts industry show. The finishes are easy-to-apply, fast-drying and use unique, state-of-the-art technology for superior performance in a Multi-Coat application system.

"We've created vibrant coatings with metallic and shimmering tones and other special effects unlike any seen before," said Bob Fritz, Manager New Business Development by OEM/ Color Specialist, Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Corp. "New technology gives our Planet Color finishes a radically new visual appearance."

Where Art and Science Collide

These custom coatings are so unique that they can only be described as 'Where Art and Science Collide'. "We have a huge audience of custom repair specialists looking to design and create cutting-edge, one-of-a-kind vehicles," added Fritz.

Color palettes have been designed to reflect the following moods and attitudes:

Sinister: A dark, mysterious air, that never seems to blink. Personified by the unique personalities who pour their souls into the custom cars that explain who they are.

Tuner Tones: Radical colors that capture the energy of a new generation.

Bikini Brites: Bright, wild, electric colors that evoke a spirit of fun.

Rugged: Specialized coatings that create texture and dimension for accent, design and attitude. The name says it all.

Northern Lights: Like the Aurora Borealis, a depth of radiance in a celestial, cosmic effect that never quite stands still.

Classic Muscle: Traditional hot rod colors plus some that have been kicked up a notch.

Jewel: Classic, opulent and rare, with a depth found only upon closer inspection.

Alloy: Stronger than steel from a raw blend of natural elements that reflect gold, silver, bronze, copper.

"These finishes are imaginative and appropriate to the types of specialty vehicles being designed and created today," said Jon A. Moss, automotive entrepreneur. "In my years at General Motors, I searched for optically enhanced coatings that would differentiate our cars. Now, with Planet Color, I've found what I had been looking for by innovative finishes unlike any on the market today."

Extreme Colors

The finishes come in a range of extremes from classic to out of this world. Imagine colors that are shimmering, iridescent, textured, color shifting, nostalgic, intense, and illuminating at night.

But there is more to Planet Color than just great looks. "These coatings are based upon OEM-approved technology for proven durability," explained Fritz. "Plus, they have brilliant, mirror like finishes that are easy to apply and repair."

Planet Color finishes can be used for a variety of applications including custom and vintage cars, motorcycles, personal watercraft, snow mobiles and whatever else someone may dream of enhancing.

Coloring Champ Car

And it extends to racing as well. As the new official automotive finish supplier for the Champ Car World Series, all teams will receive a visual overhaul in 2006 with Planet Color. These coatings will bring new life to the sponsor color schemes for the teams, making them easier to recognize as they circle the track.

Champ pace cars will get a new Planet Color look, too. As part of the arrangement, the female pace car drivers will select their own car colors from the new Planet Color finishes. The chosen color will be named after the driver and will adorn that driver's pace car for the season.

Launching January, 2006, Planet Color will be available to professional painters and custom refinishers through SWAFC's network of branches in the U.S. and Canada, and at the Planet Color website, www.planetcolor.com.
